Group consultations – FAQ’s

What is it?

  • A group session with a GP and/or nurse with a small group of people (5-10) with the same medical condition as yourself so that we can understand our health better and support each other.

Where is it?

  • At your surgery, Dunrobin Street Medical Centre.

When is it?

  • Usually Wednesday afternoons from 2-4pm, but this can vary depending on clinician availability

What do I have to do for this?

  • Be able to attend the surgery at the above time and, more importantly, be open to having a hot or cold drink with the rest of the group.

What is going to happen during a session?

  • During a session you will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from everyone in the group and share your journey as your feel comfortable.
  • You don’t have to say anything, but you will hear others on the same journey as you.
  • You will also have a 1:1 with your specialist nurse for around 10-15 minutes for your personalised care review.

What are the benefits/opportunities for me?

  • Learn some new techniques to improve your lifestyle and health condition.
  • Opportunity to have a better understanding of your health condition.
  • Empower each other to improve our lifestyles.
  • Potential to meet specialists such as GP’s, pharmacists and other professionals who can help and support you.
  • Allows the opportunity to provide more consistent support throughout the year rather than your yearly review.
